School holiday is back again! Rangers has officially ended for this year. See you again on our very first meeting on the 8th of January 2012 for a whole brand new year of exciting activities and events.

This coming new year we have much more planned out, we have very VERY interesting calender fill with very exciting activities line up. Just can't wait to get it rolling.

We would like to thank all parents and children who have helped make this an awesome ministry.

RK Slumber Night 2011

What do you get with 15 kids all gathered together for the weekend? The most awaited annual event for any Ranger Kid, the RK slumber night!

this year's theme was Winner in God (Proverbs 16:3)

On the 9th of April, at 8am sharp, the rangers started to arrive at church. After a quick fall in and a short briefing about certain safety rules and the most important rule, which was to enjoy the camp, we all piled in to the commanders cars and drove of to our camp site, Tanjung Samudera Condo, Tanjung Kling.

Ah the sunny beaches greeted us upon arrival. First special program of the day was Crazy Golf by Cmdr Steven! There was all sorts of obstacles to enter the ball into the hole... one even had a water obstacle! Many of the rangers showed much determination in entering the ball with the least number of hits. Some showed much potential, perhaps a Tiger Woods in the making?

This was closely followed by lunch, pasta! Yummy yummy pasta...not sour pasta... (a joke shared in Melaka #1 only. Do ask anyone and you'll sure to find out ;) ) The rangers gobbled down the pasta, some even had 3 rounds of it. Makes you wonder where does all that food go to in that tiny little bodies of theirs.

The next session was indoors, origami was taught Cmdr Errol & Jessica. The kids and cmdrs were divided into groups and we folded all sorts of paper crats, crowns, pelicans, hats...last but not least... a very well flying plane! Here on out the kids were all wild...planes were flying EVERYWHERE!

The beach! Back outdoors, telematch time by the beach. Here the kids learnt teamwork. Win as a team and lose as a team. One game involved the kids putting on full snorkelling gear and run a distance. Boy was this hilarious! The children kept falling over/tripping trying to run with flippers on, however by the end of the game, most of them got the idea inorder to go fast, they had to walk like a penguin.

Finally, Swimming! The most anticipated event of the day. In the pool that is. Straits of Melaka isn't as welcoming as say an island somewhere, so we went to the condo's pool. The children were eyeing this activity the entire day. Here they were given piggy back rides and.. got thrown in the pool. Yes, they seem to enjoy getting picked up by the cmdrs, one two three...*throw into pool*. They also had mini games like water polo and such.

The next event is I believe what Melaka #1 is known for. AWESOME BARBEQUES! Yea, fire lit nicely by Cmdr Ivan/Errol, and well marinated chicken wings by Cmdr Errol/Jessica were grilled, along with hotdogs (total of 140 hotdogs were consumed for this camp), fishballs, tau kees, and steamed corn. Olalala~

Well whats a camp without a camp fire right? The next session was camp fire and a sharing by Cmdr Ivan by the beach. Here,Cmdr Ivan shared about how important it is to never give up, no matter how hard the situation may look. He used examples of the day such as the telematches and such to illustrate how we should remain strong and finish the race.

After a good sharing by Cmdr Ivan it was back to the room to call it a night..but before that supper! Waffles....yea... spreaded nice and thick with Nutella and peanut butter. Mmm...

Next morning was basically rise and shine, a quick short devotion by Cmdr Stephen and the prize givin ceremony to all the kids. Best camper was awarded to Sean for not giving up! The other 2 runner ups were Joel and Caleb

Overall the camp was a HUGE success all thanks to GOD! No matter how much planning/effort we put in nothing will go right unless all glory and thanks goes to HIM. It was great to see the smiling kids faces after the camp. Also great was their parents thanking each commander! So on behalf of everyone at RR Melaka #1 we would want to thank everyone, children , parents and everyone involved to make this camp a success!

Maggi Mee

Today we took the children out to our very backyard forest for a cook out. It was the children's first time cookin maggi mee + telur themselves. And their first time actually cooking outdoors. Everythin went according to plan, which happened slightly more then two hours before Rangers meeting begun. Has been a REALLY long time since we did actually over the fire cooking. Now we have pots to do them! More outdoor cooking to come....wonder what we shall do next..hmm...

Mmmmm bestest Maggi mee ever! Over cook, soggy and smoked. Cant get anythin like this at home! So good the children kept askin for more!

Refresher Course - Tents

After coming back from the National Leaders Conference all the commanders decided it was time to hold a refresher course for both Adventure and Discovery Rangers. Today's refresher course was about building tents. We first asked who didn't know how to get their tents up and not surprisingly about half didn't know how to. This was their lucky day off. So, a few commanders explained the important rules when pitching a tent up and showed the children how to set them up and neatly fold them back.

Adventure Rangers had it a little bit difficult, I got them to do a tent each. Which was a good idea as they took turns to help each other out. Not thinking of themselves only but realized that working together is faster.

What is first aid? What is the first thing that comes to mind? It definitely is "cardiammmpuhlnmmmresuscitation" according to well it aint that hard to guess who might just blurt this out right?

Anway today Discovery and Adventure Rangers had a combine meeting. It was to pick up one of their fastest merits ever obtain. Within two hours! An intensive all about basic first aid by Bro. Michael and Bro.Frankie who sacrificed their Sunday afternoon to pop down by our church and give the children a very useful lesson on first aid.

Hello once again. It's been pretty long since the last update which was four months ago. Well last meeting we had a CNY celebration. Any excuse to stuff our selves with some junk food, mandarin oranges and sweeeeet carbonated drinks is always welcomed right?

Preparation

In preparation for our annual camp the kids got their first taste of a fire this year... and after many times using gas stove I guess the "skill" to light a fire has somehow disappeared! Out of three teams only one team managed to light a fire with 3 matches! What happened??! this is to prepare the rangers for cooking their lunch for the camp. i guess they'd be having burger sashimi!

This week rangers meeting was a little interesting. We had a special event again done by C.Ivan, making pizza as good as those famous ones...
FUN
Durin the fall in the entire outpost got caught ... somethin I think everyone should be ashamed of... all the children "forgot" all the rangers basic. The points, pledge, motto. Everyone EXCEPT RANGER KID DEBBIE. Hoorah! for her and her commander, C.Jessica. Everyone got punished to write the red points, gold points and blue points twenty times each and got question by C. Steven.

As tradition follows May the 1st was CLA's Family Day. Every ministry were suppose to set up a stall. The adults cell did the food stalls while other ministries did fun activities. For Royal Rangers we were in charge of gettin one game stall up and runnin. We had two games; styro-fishing and one-in-hole. Both games were a huge success. Here are some pics ...

Go Fly Kite

We had an impromptu event today...no it wasn't the whole entire ER outpost who decided to go MIA it was kite flying. It was going to rain and there was a nice breeze so the RK who left their kites behind or meant for keeping here...dunno either which way...took their kites out to fly. It all ended up abruptly as the sky started to pour. Couple of kites got entangled and got stuck at the roof of the church....

Discovery Rangers

Last meeting the Discovery Rangers had their first try I believe in starting a campfire under the watchful eyes of their commander, C.Errol. It was the first time the children started a fire and boy were they exceited! Even after being told to stop adding wood they kept on adding. No chance to play with fire at home I presume :D
and oh first fire in our new church? yeah......we can have our COA with a real fire now?

A Debt That Can Never Be Repaid

This post is specially dedicated to the men who have invested and sacrificed a lot of their time, effort, money, patience and much more for ROYAL RANGERS MELAKA #1. I may sound cheesy and unusual but please bear with me. First and foremost though, thanks to God, our Master Ranger for giving me the opportunity and pleasure to earn my GMA after 5 years. :-)

First let's start of with Cmdr. Steven Chia
He has been in Royal Rangers since he was 9. Currently he is the Senior Commander for our outpost. He may seem loud and tough at times, but we all know that he really does care about us. We enjoy his method of bringing us out to talk to us about practically anything. He tries his very best to reach out to us youth on our on terms.
I personally would like to thank him for being there for me during my GMA interview eventhough he was busy doing business. (FYI: he came in his golf shirt, short pants, slippers and carried a newspaper) He has also personally taught me a lot of information about camping and growing up, all the experience he has shared with me, is hard to forget.

Then, there is Cmdr Vive
As far as I can remember, he was my commander when I was a pioneer. I'm proud to say that he was the one who has started my interest in GMA in the first place. He always challenged me to do better and has somehow made me the person I am today. I may not have liked a lot of things he did in the past as I did not understand and saw the purpose for his actions but now I see that it was for our own good. I appreciate it. He has also taught me a lot of extra information. Stuff that you don't normally learn in school. Like about computers, survival skills and most importantly the bible. He has also taught me the importance of team work and leadership, the leader I am today will not be the same without his teachings and encouragement.

Lastly, Cmdr. Ivan
As a small girl, I can honestly tell you that I have never like him very much. I was not very close to him either, but now I realise that he has always helped me and I feel embarrassed for not appreciating his help last time. He took over Cmdr. Vive's position of constantly challenging me with more things to do and increasing my leadership skills. He has helped me a lot indirectly to achieve my GMA through the paper work and information he has provided to me.

Well, this is all I can say for now. I know it may not be as sincere as a face-to-face thank you, please do forgive me for being so big headed and forgetting to thank all of you. Thank you for not looking down on me and making me who I am today. Thank you for your patience and not giving up.
I would jus like to reassure all of you that all ur sacrifices and hard work has not gone to waste. I would like to share my achievements with all of you and let you know that I will not be where I am today if it wasn't because of all you've done. I am truly blessed. Thank you.

At their annual National Council in Springfield, MO., March 13-15, Royal Rangers announces that by July 31, 2011 they will phase out the current uniform and phase in new uniform selections along with new training camps, awards and merits.

On behalf of Royal Rangers Melaka # 1, we wish to inform you that the Outpost would be having our Annual Outpost Camp 2008 as follows :

Date : 31st August,2008 – 2nd September, 2008
Place : Tanjong Bidara, Melaka
Duration : 3 Days 2 Nights [ 3D2N ]
Camp Theme: Walking with God [ Micah 6: 8 ]
Camp Fee : RM 80.00 [ Children ]
[ inclusive food, accommodation, transport & activities ]

This camp would be a special camp as the rangers would be going back to the basics of camping and doing the things that they have missed in their early years of being in the Royal Rangers Ministry. Exciting learning experiences such as tin-foil cooking, low impact cooking, patrol system activities and many more exciting programs have been thoroughly planned for their enjoyment. It is also a time for the leadership transition in the ministry and a time of sharing experiences to strengthen this wonderful ministry as a whole.

Please continue to pray with us, the commanders, to ensure that the camp would be a great success as we are dependent on His Mercy and Grace as it is He who makes things happen for our outpost.
